Last year, we couldn't get enough of London’s Pelicandy, from their debut ‘In Echoes’ to interviewing the band at The Great Escape Festival to their timeless single ‘Animals’. While we don’t strictly have new music just yet, what we do have is a pure music video for that sophomore track ‘Animals’. Directed by Renée Rodenkirchen, the video is true to Pelicandy’s sound as one that soaked in colour and neon lights as the dancing protagonist follows-up a late night meal in Chinatown by strutting, moving, dancing down those light-soaked streets. There’s an essence of Michael Jackson here, no doubt inspired by the band’s use of ‘80s-style drum beats and synths. It’s a charismatic, flowing performance that appears to be improvised, using the natural environment to tap in to those animalistic movements through Pelicandy’s liberating music. - HT
